Diego hit with $ 680,000 fine

Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have hit bad-boy Diego with the maximum fine for storming out on its side at the end of last season, according to reports.

After he left fall by coach Felix Magath was for the final on Hoffenheim in may, Diego up and left the team hotel and football missed his side 3-1 victory.

The 26-year-old was fined € 500,000 ($ 680,000) and has been reprimanded for his behavior, German magazine Sport Bild reported.

The club confirmed that they hit him with the maximum penalty, but refused to specify the amount.

In February he decided to take a penalty which he, against the instructions of then-coach Steve McClaren missed.

The penalty miss Wolfsburg sentenced to a 1-0 defeat against Hanover and McClaren was sacked in the aftermath of the result.

Wolfsburg apparently would like to sell Diego for at least 10 million euros, having signed him from Juventus for 15 million euros in August 2010.
